Industry and IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said on Friday that the Telangana government was ready to help and support direct marketing companies setting up manufacturing operations in the state.

Speaking to Telangana Direct Selling Sammelanam 2021 held here, he said that direct selling is a 20-year-old industry and has run into problems in the past due to some companies deceiving customers and committing crimes. frauds. The Telangana government in 2017 had developed regulations for direct selling businesses to protect the interests of consumers.

The registration of direct selling companies will soon be launched by the Center and will be managed by the Directorate for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The registration and regulatory framework will bode well for all stakeholders, including customers, he said. Stating that Telangana will always encourage companies with good quality products in direct selling, Mr. Ranjan said that in addition to providing employment and income generation opportunities, the direct selling industry in Telangana should also encourage MSMEs by increasing their supply.

The organizers of Sammelanam in a statement said that according to a survey by the Indian Direct Selling Association, Telangana contributed 13.15% of the business share in the southern region with a turnover of 292, 50 crore or 1.74% of domestic sales in 2019-2020. The Association urged the state government to facilitate a registration mechanism for direct selling entities in the state. Telangana has around 90,000 direct sellers, including 44,000 women.
